Debbie Rogers debrog55@hotmail.com October 2007
My involvement with a Fergus drop-in centre began in the year 2000, by attending a meeting held in a local church and signing up as a potential volunteer. In March of 2002, I became a volunteer at “The Door” Youth Centre a satellite of Highlands YFC. (http://www.highlandsyfc.com/) In May of 2006, I continued my role as volunteer plus was voted in as a member of the steering committee. In March of 2007, I began working out of the Fergus centre as a Staff Youth Worker for YFC. In June I started my credentialing by attending Summer Institute and look forward to Module 1 in November.
At present together with the YFC Fergus team, we: • lead drop-in Friday and Saturday nights for 13-19 yr. olds • lead a special events night on Thursdays • meet with teens one on one • help in tutoring the Alternative Ed. class in the high school • coach volley ball in the high school
Specific ministries I am responsible for include: • team up with two teachers and provide a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere
for learning independently or help with assignments • girls night out – outreach to junior high girls 10-13 yr. olds. • lead an adult prayer group
Debbie’s reflections: My mission is to make a difference in the lives of struggling teens of Centre Wellington for the glory of God.
