W.A.V.E.

The W.A.V.E. (Winners with an Active Voice of Excellence) boys and girls club is a program for two age groups during the school year.

The 6 to 10 year old group has been participating in difference activities including the following:
  • inspirational movies
  • games nights
  • discussion sessions
  • arts and crafts
  • song/dance/mime coaching
The discussion sessions are geared towards helping children understand that they are of value, are loved and that they are here on earth for a special purpose.  They learn that people are created different for a reason; they are also taught the value of accepting others who seem a little different than themselves.  Other disscussion sessions focused on areas such as conflict resolution and lift principles.

The 11-16 year olds make up the older group.  They have focused on themes such as:
  • identity and purpose
  • self-worth
  • knowing your temperament
  • health and sex education
  • manners made easy
  • character developement
  • leadership development
  • dance/mine activities
All these sessions result in self awareness, increased self esteem and a greater appreciation for one's neighbour.  The youth are given a safe environment to ask questions and explore thoughts and ideas.  The discussion times are enjoyed by all and create stronger and more trusting relationships between volunteer and participants.
